While many fandoms treat "Demon kings" and "Demon lords" as interchangeable terms. There is a meaningful and differentiating detail.
Demon kings(As defined by §2.1.3.2) and Demon lords(As defined by §2.1.3.3) differ by their political position. While Demon kings rule a domain, have a large number of subordinates or even all demons and furthermore are usually one-of-a-kind(Only 1 exists in the world), Demon Lords on the contrary do not control meaningful territory and only have great power/strength.
THE LAW:
§2.1.3.2 Demon Kings
A Demon king is a demon that rules over an area of land and has control over a meaningful majority of demons. Demon kings are often hostile to humanity.
§2.1.3.3 Demon Lord
While sometimes seen as the same as Demon kings(§1.3.2) demon lords actually differ from demon kings. A demon lord is simply a powerful demon unlike the aforementioned demon king. Demon lords are not inherently hostile to humans like demon kings.
